According to UNPA’s founding member and leader, Israelsen, the organization started with a singular mission to help the industry amid federal scrutiny. In 2005, the organization rebranded from the Utah Natural Products Alliance to reflect its broader membership across North America, Europe, and Asia, encompassing manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and service providers. Israelsen emphasized that UNPA operates on a consensus-based model, ensuring equal input from all members, which distinguishes it from other associations.
