The Sunday Times has released its annual ranking of the UK’s fastest-growing private companies, highlighting a surge in health and wellness brands, particularly in the supplement sector. Ancient + Brave, a Sussex-based brand founded by Kate Prince, ranked seventh overall and is noted as the fastest-growing supplement brand in the UK, with sales reaching £53.7 million—up 248% from the previous year.
Dr. Macciochi attributes this growth to consumers increasingly prioritizing proactive health measures, seeking holistic solutions rather than just addressing existing issues. The increasing availability of health information is also allowing consumers to take more ownership of their wellness choices.
Women’s health is a particularly growing segment, with brands like Free Soul and Novomins also featured on the list. Dr. Macciochi points out a shift towards holistic health approaches that encompass various aspects of well-being—such as gut health and mental resilience—rather than isolated fixes.
Hydration is another key trend highlighted, with brands like Vidrate and Phizz focusing exclusively on hydration products. The UK supplement market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 8.1% by 2033, presenting a significant opportunity for brands to build trust through transparency and education. As competition increases, brands that prioritize credibility and high standards are likely to succeed.
