El Al Opens State-of-the-Art Kosher Aviation Catering Facility
El Al Airlines has recently unveiled a cutting-edge aviation catering facility at Ben Gurion Airport, managed by Tamam (Aircraft Food Industries). This facility holds the distinction of being the largest kosher aviation food plant in the world.
The newly launched facility, which opened its doors on Wednesday, covers approximately 14,000 square meters—almost double the size of its predecessor. With an impressive production capacity of around 50,000 meals per day, it significantly outpaces the old site’s capacity of 30,000 meals.
Constructed with an investment of hundreds of millions of shekels, the plant features advanced technological systems designed for managing food preparation and ensuring quality control. El Al stated that this new facility will enhance its operational capabilities, enabling a broader range of meal options on flights. A full transition to the new facility is expected to occur gradually over the upcoming months.
The airline emphasized that this new plant replaces a facility that has been in operation for decades. It marks an important step in El Al’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
“We continue to invest consistently and significantly in improving the flight experience, understanding that every component of the customer journey contributes to the overall experience,” stated El Al CEO Levi Halevi. “TAMAM’s new plant allows us to elevate the culinary standard for El Al passengers, expand operational capabilities, and support El Al’s growth for years to come.”
Conclusion
The launch of this innovative kosher catering facility represents a significant advancement for El Al Airlines. By investing in their infrastructure, the airline aims to enhance its service quality and cater to a growing number of passengers who seek elevated dining experiences while flying. This development reflects El Al’s commitment to excellence in passenger service and sets new standards in the aviation food industry.
