Florida mother taken into custody for leaving four children unattended while she traveled to Las Vegas, according to authorities.

A Kissimmee mother, Irene Miller, was arrested after her four children, aged 14, 12, 11, and 9, were found alone at home while she was in Las Vegas. The situation arose when a 911 call reported that a dumbbell had fallen on the head of the 9-year-old. Responding deputies discovered no adult supervision at the residence.

Miller, 50, was contacted by deputies during the incident. She stated that she had left for Las Vegas on October 18, with plans to return on October 23, and claimed a babysitter was checking on the children, but not staying overnight. After her return, she was arrested at the airport.

She has been charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Sheriff Chris Blackmon emphasized the agency’s commitment to investigating child neglect cases and holding parents accountable for proper supervision.
