Sacramento concert attendees fall victim to parking scam, left with missing vehicles and hefty charges.

Some concertgoers at the Aftershock rock festival in Sacramento encountered serious issues when returning to their vehicles, discovering they had been towed in questionable circumstances. One attendee, Bruce Capagli, ended up with a bill of $562 and a car so damaged it was rendered undriveable.

Capagli parked in a lot on Bercut Drive, only to find his vehicle missing upon his return. A sign directed him to a phone number, and after calling, he was given an address that led him to an unmarked dirt lot in a residential area. He was transported there in a vehicle not associated with a towing company.

This towing operation used the name J&B Towing, but there were doubts about its legitimacy and authorization. Capagli noted discrepancies in the paperwork, which linked the tow to Allied Universal—a company that claimed no involvement with the towing operation or parking facilities, asserting their services were limited to security for a tenant’s lobby.

Drivers returning to this dirt lot noted a lack of signage, yet were presented with preprinted receipts demanding the hefty towing fee. Capagli expressed concern that the receipts were incomplete and potentially forged. Other drivers reported similar experiences, suggesting a pattern of questionable practices by the towing operation.

The owner of J&B Towing claimed the business was legitimate but failed to provide necessary documentation or interview. Many affected motorists are now seeking clarity and resolution regarding their vehicles and the towing practices encountered.
