Huntsville, Ala. – Space Camp has been awarded the Challenger-7 Recognition, an honor from the Challenger Center for organizations that embody the spirit of the last crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger, who tragically lost their lives in the 1986 explosion.
Space Camp leaders state that this recognition underscores their mission to inspire future generations of space explorers. As they approach their 45th anniversary in 2027, plans are underway to launch new immersive experiences.
Vice President of Space Camp, Robin Soprano, emphasized that the true measure of success lies not in physical structures or programs but in the transformative impact on education, the confidence gained through challenges, and the dreams ignited in aspiring explorers, scientists, engineers, and leaders.
Additional recipients of the Challenger-7 Recognition include the American Rocketry Challenge and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
