A 31-year-old man is in critical condition following a shooting in Humboldt Park on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. while he was inside a business on the 4400 block of West Cortez Street. According to police, he was approached by an unknown offender and shot in the chest. He was subsequently taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have a person of interest in custody for questioning, and a handgun was recovered at the scene. Area detectives are actively investigating the case.
