Millennium High Hosts Multicultural Fair for Elementary Students
On Thursday, Primary Elementary students had a unique opportunity to explore cultures worldwide at a multicultural fair hosted by Millennium High. The event took place at the Tracy Learning Center and featured over 15 displays showcasing various food, traditions, games, and activities.
Students had the chance to engage with diverse cultures through interactive booths. Highlights included learning the tinikling dance from the Philippines, participating in drumming with Nepal’s madal drum, and tasting curry fish balls from Hong Kong. Loreal Taylor, counseling officer and host of the fair, emphasized the importance of bridging cultures for younger students: “Providing them with memories and experiences through food, activities, and visuals helps piece together our diverse world.”
Throughout the event, elementary students explored various activities, such as playing soccer in Brazil, examining traditional keffiyeh designs from Palestine, and practicing hockey skills on the gym floor in Russia. Each booth encouraged student interaction and curiosity.
For high school participants, the fair offered a platform to research and share meaningful cultural traditions. Alex Garcia expressed enthusiasm about the young students’ engagement at the Philippines booth, emphasizing the core values of togetherness found in Filipino communities. Brandon Cua, who danced among the tinikling sticks, highlighted the significance of sharing their culture, noting the diversity within California.
Millennium High has revived the multicultural fair tradition in recent years, with hopes that younger generations will continue to celebrate the rich diversity of the school’s community.
