GE Appliances Converts Former Beechmont Woman’s Club into Community Venue

GE Appliances employees have made a significant impact on the Louisville community by volunteering over 1,000 hours during the company’s annual Blue Wave Day of Service. Their efforts included revitalizing the former Beechmont Woman’s Club into a new location for South Louisville Community Ministries. Tasks involved installing flooring, painting, and creating raised planter beds, all aimed at transforming the space into a welcoming community hub.

CEO Kevin Nolan emphasized the importance of giving back, saying, “We live in Louisville and we love Louisville and it’s just fun to give back.” The initiative reflects GE’s commitment to fostering community connections and providing a space for neighbors to gather, share meals, and access resources.

Clare Wallace, the executive director of the community ministry, noted the necessity for such a space to strengthen relationships among residents. The new community center is expected to open in the Beechmont neighborhood, coinciding with a fall festival on October 23 and kitchen pop-ups starting in November.
