The second-generation BYD Seagull electric hatchback is now available for pre-order in China, having grown 425 mm longer to better compete with the popular Geely EX2. Customers can reserve the vehicle via the BYD App for a deposit of 2,000 yuan (about 300 USD), although the official pricing is yet to be announced.
Key specifications of the new Seagull include:
- Dimensions: 4205 mm (L) x 1810 mm (W) x 1570 mm (H) with a wheelbase of 2650 mm.
- Interior: It features a five-seat cabin, a 94-liter front trunk, and a trunk capacity of up to 1380 liters with the rear seats folded.
- Powertrain: It comes with a 95 kW (127 hp) electric motor, two battery options (30 kWh and 39.2 kWh), and a range of 320 to 420 km (CLTC).
- Pricing: Expected to be under 100,000 yuan (approximately 14,915 USD), contrasting with the previous generation’s price range of 69,900 to 85,900 yuan.
The Seagull also boasts a faster charging capability, reaching from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes, and offers advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
