Gary and Ronald Rodenbaugh’s dad, Donald, opened Rodenbaugh’s Flooring America Kitchen Bed and Bath in downtown Allen in 1962.
Originally a radio and television repair shop, the business has evolved over the past 64 years and now offers appliances, flooring, countertops, mattresses, and more.
A Closer Look
Rodenbaugh’s Flooring America Kitchen Bed and Bath partners with brands like Cambria and Coretec.
“We try to stay with some name brands,” Gary Rodenbaugh said.
Gary Rodenbaugh emphasized that the business’s goal is to educate customers during their home improvement journeys. The best value in an appliance isn’t always the one with the lowest price, he explained.
When a customer inquires about flooring, employees take the time to ask questions to better understand their needs, such as the type of room being remodeled, whether they have pets, or if there’s a pool. They often take samples to the customer’s house to see how it fits in the space.
Employees aim to “think outside the box” to provide creative solutions, according to Ronald Rodenbaugh. “These are the types of things that Dad taught us,” he added. “It’s not so much a problem. It’s an opportunity for me to create a solution.”
Diving Deeper
Rodenbaugh’s Flooring America Kitchen Bed and Bath connects customers with a network of service providers for appliance repairs.
“What we found is we can actually offer our customers better service when we give them a list of five different service centers, because now the chances of them getting same-day service are great,” Gary Rodenbaugh noted.
This commitment to customer education and service has helped build a solid reputation for the business.
“Our business has been built on referrals, word of mouth, and repeat business,” Gary said.
Also of Note
Both Rodenbaugh brothers are active in the Allen community. Ronald serves on the Foundation for Allen Schools board, while Gary has contributed to the Lovejoy ISD board and the Collin Appraisal Review Board.
“Dad showed us, you know, the power of being involved,” Gary reflected.
