A four-member international astronaut crew has successfully returned to Earth after an extensive mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS). They performed a parachute-assisted splashdown in the Pacific Ocean near California, which was confirmed at 15:34 GMT when the SpaceX Crew Dragon Freedom spacecraft landed in designated waters.

Mission Highlights:

  • Duration: 237 days in orbit
  • Mission Commander: Jessica Meir (NASA)
  • Mission Pilot: Jack Hathaway (NASA)
  • European Space Agency Astronaut: Sophie Adenot
  • Roscosmos Cosmonaut: Andrey Fedyaev

The crew had launched on February 13 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, aboard a Falcon 9 rocket. They successfully departed the orbital laboratory the day before their return.

Their return coincides with the arrival of the Replacement Crew-13 mission, which launched on October 1.

Future Exploration Plans

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman emphasized the importance of returning to the Moon, stating, “We have to build the moon base. We want to master the skills.” Isaacman outlined plans to validate essential systems for lunar exploration, which will pave the way for future crewed flights to Mars—described as the next significant step in space exploration.
