Japan aims to expand government support for energy transport.

Japan’s government intends to expand a special measure that currently provides reinsurance-equivalent coverage for tankers transporting Iranian crude oil to encompass crude from other nations, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other petroleum products. According to The Japan News, this revised law aims to allow more flexibility in applying the measure to additional countries if Western sanctions on energy suppliers disrupt Japan’s energy supplies unexpectedly.
