Honda has introduced its new hybrid powertrain, dubbed Honda Hybrid, which will be featured in 15 models launched globally by March 2030, primarily focusing on the North American market. This initiative, part of a broader strategy unveiled in May 2026, emphasizes shifting resources toward hybrid vehicle development and production.
The Honda Hybrid system enhances the existing e:HEV technology, improving fuel efficiency by expanding the engine’s efficient operating range and refining the drive unit. This brand unifies Honda’s hybrid history, starting from the Integrated Motor Assist in the original 1999 Insight, and aims to streamline the consumer experience under a single name.
New models will utilize a lighter, more rigid platform designed for better handling, incorporating advanced features like a Motion Management System, integrated control technology, and a novel electric all-wheel-drive system. With launching predominantly focused on North America, Honda aims to meet the increasing global demand for hybrid vehicles, with a target to introduce all models by 2027.
