Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Teams Up with Animal Care for Charity Calendar
Overview:
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is collaborating with Animal Care and Control to host a unique fundraiser aimed at helping homeless animals find permanent homes. This initiative features the annual Fire Rescue calendar, which combines the talents of firefighters and EMTs with adoptable pets for a photo shoot designed to raise funds and awareness for animal welfare.
Event Highlights:
- The calendar has transitioned from just a collection of photos into a significant fundraising event, directly supporting local animal welfare initiatives.
- Last year’s inaugural effort raised $10,000 and resulted in all featured dogs being adopted.
- This year, organizers aim to double the fundraising goal to assist even more animals in need.
Kickoff Event:
The official launch is scheduled for Sunday, from 6 PM to 10 PM at Renegades in West Palm Beach. At this event, attendees will:
- Meet firefighters and learn about the adoptable pets.
- Participate in selecting which firefighter-animal pair will grace each month of the calendar.
- Enjoy emceeing by WPTV reporter Christy Waite, who will announce the selected pairs.
Community Impact:
Firefighters are stepping out of their comfort zones to support a great cause, emphasizing the importance of giving second chances to pets facing unfortunate circumstances. Capt. Janice Vassalotti expressed the need for awareness around the many animals in the local area seeking loving homes.
