Xbox’s CTO, Scott Van Vliet, recently announced ongoing efforts to simplify game development on the Xbox platform. He acknowledged that developers have found the current processes cumbersome, asserting that Xbox is committed to refining these procedures, particularly in the areas of concept and publishing.
While specific changes have yet to be detailed, this openness from Xbox aims to address developer needs directly. Notably, improvements have previously been seen with PlayFab’s introduction of Foundation Mode, granting developers free access to essential backend services. Microsoft has also claimed that onboarding to the Xbox development environment can now take as little as 30 minutes.
These developments are promising for both Xbox as a platform and developers who may find new opportunities for creating games. As updates roll out, the hope is that Xbox becomes an increasingly attractive option for game development.
