Jinko ESS Advances 135MWh Green Battery Project in Germany
Jinko ESS, a prominent global energy storage company and a subsidiary of JinkoSolar Co., Ltd., is advancing a 135MWh green battery energy storage project in Germany. This initiative, connected to a photovoltaic plant, is designed to bolster the delivery and commercial value of renewable electricity through a hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA).
As Germany expands its renewable energy capacity, the integration of co-located and connected storage is becoming crucial. Battery energy storage captures surplus solar generation, shifts renewable electricity to peak demand periods, and stabilizes delivery for customers and the grid.
The project will incorporate 135MWh of green BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) capacity, facilitating more effective solar generation use while providing the necessary flexibility for the hybrid PPA. This approach merges renewable production, energy storage, and energy delivery under one coordinated framework.
Utilizing Jinko’s Tera liquid-cooled energy storage system (5.01MWh), the project boasts a conversion efficiency of 94.1%. Its design minimizes charging and discharging losses, with a footprint reduction of 17.7% and a 50% reduction in DC cabling, thereby expediting on-site delivery and grid connections.
Roberto Murgioni, General Manager of Jinko ESS Europe, expressed excitement about strengthening cooperation in Germany through this project. He emphasized that the integration of PV, storage, and a hybrid PPA structure represents a forward-thinking approach to enhancing the flexibility and reliability of renewable energy.
Moving forward, Jinko ESS aims to collaborate with partners across Europe to deliver high-quality battery energy storage solutions, enhancing renewable energy utilization and supporting innovative routes to market for clean power.
