The Crew 12 team has departed the International Space Station (ISS) aboard their Crew Dragon capsule, concluding a 237-day mission. Led by Commander Jessica Meir and Pilot Jack Hathaway, they undocked at 8:05 a.m. ET, aiming for a splashdown off Southern California on Thursday.
During their time in space, the Crew 12 members expressed gratitude to their colleagues at the ISS and mission control teams around the world. After a final day in weightlessness, they will execute a thruster burn to initiate their descent.
They leave behind the Crew 13 astronauts who recently arrived, along with additional crew members from a Soyuz mission. Meir noted the bittersweet emotions of leaving the ISS, highlighting the friendships forged during their time there.
With splashdown on the horizon, Meir is set to complete her second spaceflight, totaling 442 days in space. The Crew 12 mission has completed extensive scientific work and has logged approximately 101 million miles in orbit.
