San Antonio Tax Preparation Business Owner Sentenced to Federal Prison and Required to Pay $3.8 Million

A San Antonio woman, Natasha Sheree Banks-Brown, has been sentenced to 53 months in federal prison and ordered to pay over $3.8 million in restitution for falsifying tax returns on behalf of her clients. Operating Tasha’s Total Tax Service since 2016, Banks-Brown was convicted of filing false returns filled with fraudulent deductions and credits, resulting in inflated tax refunds for her clients.

The IRS began investigations in 2020 due to a rise in questionable returns linked to her business. Banks-Brown took a portion of her clients’ fees from their tax refunds, funneling them into a bank account she managed. She was indicted in April 2024 and found guilty two years later on 11 counts after a four-day jury trial.
