The Baltimore Orioles are reportedly laying off multiple employees from various business-side departments, according to sources from the Baltimore Banner. While the exact number affected remains unclear, it is suggested that many roles associated with business operations, content production, and in-game presentation are impacted. One insider described the situation as a “bloodbath.”
Additionally, despite an anticipated MLB lockout in December following the expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA), sources indicated that these layoffs were not directly related to that event. The Orioles still have open job postings across the organization.
In an internal memo, Catie Griggs, President of Business Operations, noted that around a dozen employees were laid off. She emphasized that these decisions were aimed at ensuring the team is prepared for future work rather than merely reducing headcount, highlighting ongoing recruitment efforts for critical roles.
