The Walk of Honor Foundation in Baton Rouge is expanding the memorial wall for fallen Louisiana firefighters due to a shortage of space for names. Currently, the wall features 193 names, but several more are either listed separately or awaiting inclusion. Boyd Petty, vice president of the foundation, expressed the importance of keeping the names together for the families affected.
To address this, contractor Andre Pellerin will add two granite structures to each side of the existing wall, ensuring that future additions can be accommodated. The expansion, funded by donations, is set for completion by February 2024, in time for the foundation’s annual ceremony on March 20. Pellerin, a fourth-generation volunteer firefighter, emphasizes the emotional significance of the project.
