The College of The Albemarle has celebrated the grand opening of its new Regional Health Sciences Center, a 60,000-square-foot simulated hospital aimed at enhancing the region’s healthcare education and services. During the event, various speakers highlighted the importance of partnerships and community engagement in advancing health care in northeastern North Carolina.
COA’s dean, Robin Harris, noted the center’s advanced technology and its role in supporting over 40 health sciences programs, while President Jack Bagwell emphasized that the facility’s value lies in what happens inside it and the collaborations formed. Community leaders, including State Rep. Bill Ward and former Senators Bobby Hanig and Bob Steinburg, praised the new building’s potential impact on local health care and economic development. Nursing student Natalyia Story expressed gratitude for the new opportunities the center provides for hands-on education.
