Axiom Space and Exobiosphere have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing biomedical research for innovative drug discovery in microgravity. This collaboration will leverage Axiom’s private astronaut missions and Axiom Station operations in low-Earth orbit (LEO).
Dr. Lucie Low, Axiom’s Chief Science Officer, emphasized the MoU’s potential for groundbreaking research and development, which could lead to advancements in drug therapies and disease management. The partnership aims to improve access to scientific research and explore in-space manufacturing capabilities.
Kyle Acierno, CEO of Exobiosphere, noted that effective microgravity research requires automated, scalable experiments. Their automated Orbital High-Throughput Screening (OHTS) platform will facilitate numerous experiments executed alongside ground controls, integrating orbital experimentation into current research and development.
This collaboration intends to drive innovation in microgravity research, benefiting the international research community through new commercial space opportunities.
