Aviva introduces its specialty division in the United States.

Aviva has launched Aviva Specialty, a new U.S. specialty insurance platform based in New York. This surplus lines insurer will start underwriting commercial property risks through brokers and program administrators in the fourth quarter. The initiative follows Aviva’s announcement last year to enter the U.S. specialty market, naming Mike Karmilowicz, a former Everest Insurance executive, as president. Initially focusing on commercial property, Aviva Specialty plans to expand into cyber, specialty financial lines, and casualty. The insurer will operate using Aviva Insurance Limited’s paper and can cover risks nationwide.
