South Korea Removes Import Approval Requirements for Automotive Display Glass and Introduces AI Security Standards — BigGo Finance

South Korea’s government is taking significant steps to enhance the display industry and promote renewable energy. Key actions include:

  1. Import Approval Exemption: The government will exempt tempered glass used in automotive displays from import approval requirements by revising the “Export and Import Notice,” streamlining procurement for display companies.

  2. Generative AI Security Guidelines: New guidelines will be established by early 2027 to facilitate the use of generative AI in national core technology sectors while ensuring technological protection.

  3. Many-to-Many Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): A pilot program for many-to-many renewable energy PPAs will be conducted in special zones, allowing multiple suppliers and buyers to trade electricity simultaneously.

  4. Trade Secret Protections: Enhanced protections will allow companies handling hazardous chemicals to use generic names in community disclosures to safeguard confidential business information.

  5. Streamlined Procedures: Updates to procedures will allow for faster approvals for new equipment with certain criteria.

The Office for Government Policy Coordination emphasized the importance of adapting regulations to fit the display industry’s needs, aiming to foster innovation and private investment in response to global market competition.
