Kylie Jenner is set to headline and executive produce Bachelorette Weekend (working title), a thriller series that is nearing a straight-to-series order at Hulu, according to Deadline. This role marks Jenner’s first significant leap into acting, following her sister Kim Kardashian’s path from reality star to producer.
Kardashian will also serve as an executive producer on the series, which was created by author/screenwriter Lauren Oliver and developed by Kapital Entertainment. The plot revolves around a bachelorette weekend that turns deadly when the bride (played by Jenner) is found murdered, with her friends as suspects. Jenner’s character is described as the series’ guiding light, retracing the events surrounding the murder.
The series will also feature Joel and Jaiden Kaplan as executive producers. Jenner, Kardashian, and Oliver will all take production roles, while Kapital Entertainment collaborates with 20th Television on this project.
Bachelorette Weekend is based on an unpublished manuscript by Flora Collins, adapted by Oliver. Kardashian was instrumental in connecting Jenner to the role after receiving the script, affirming it as an excellent fit for her sister. The Disney-backed Hulu made a preemptive straight-to-series acquisition with ongoing negotiations.
In addition to her film work, Jenner has been involved in high-profile appearances, including a cameo in Charli XCX’s The Moment, and she stars in the ongoing reality series The Kardashians, returning for its eighth season on October 8.
Kardashian is also producing her own scripted series All’s Fair and has other projects in the pipeline, including a Netflix movie and an unscripted series.
Bachelorette Weekend expands Kapital’s offerings at Hulu, which also includes upcoming dramas featuring well-known actors and genres. Oliver, known for her popular YA novels and adaptations, continues to broaden her repertoire with this new adaptation.
Both Jenner and Kardashian are represented by WME, while Oliver is with Verve and Jamie Feldman.
