Ford Issues Recall for Expedition and Heavy-Duty Trucks Due to Defective Front Lighting

Ford has announced a recall involving 41,748 vehicles, which includes the 2025–2027 Expedition SUV and 2026 models of the F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 heavy-duty pickups. The recall is due to potential contamination of LED chips in the headlight assemblies, which may lead to headlight failure.

Key Points:

  • Recall Details:

    • All affected vehicles may experience diminished or total failure of their headlights.
    • Contaminants were traced back to the chip supplier’s manufacturing process.
  • Inspection and Repair Process:

    • Owners will be notified by mail and are required to bring their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealership for inspection.
    • If the headlights pass inspection, no action will be taken. If they fail, technicians will replace the faulty headlight at no cost to the owner.
  • Notification Timeline:

    • Dealer notifications will start on October 26, 2026, and owner notifications will follow on November 6.
    • Owners can check their vehicle’s status on the NHTSA website beginning October 26.

If you own one of the affected models, it’s recommended to keep an eye out for the notification and plan for the necessary inspection.
