The Spirit of Tasmania is enhancing its ferry service with the addition of two new vessels, Spirit of Tasmania IV and Spirit of Tasmania V, which will feature pet-friendly cabins. These cabins can accommodate up to two pets, allowing owners to keep their pets with them during the Bass Strait crossing, rather than utilizing the kennel facilities.
In addition to the new pet accommodations, the ships will also offer increased capacity, with room for 470 more passengers per sailing and a total of 301 cabins, including family rooms, deluxe berths, and premium business recliners. The onboard experience will showcase local Tasmanian products through various dining venues, including the Huon Lounge and Tasmanian Market Kitchen, as well as casual dining options overlooking Bass Strait.
Families can enjoy amenities such as onboard cinemas, a dedicated kids’ play area, and a gaming zone. The inaugural sailings are set for October 31, 2026, with bookings available for up to 12 months in advance.
