Sacramento Sisters Honor Family Legacy with Dried Fruit Business
Three sisters in Sacramento have launched Stained Glass Fruit, a company that transforms California-grown citrus into beautifully dried slices for beverages. They are blending their family’s agricultural roots with entrepreneurial spirit.
“We chose the name because when you pick up a citrus, it resembles stained glass,” explained Jeanette Nunez, highlighting the vibrant hues and light that filter through the fruit.
The sisters—Andrea Nunez Lorente, Adreana Nunez Alvarez, and Jeanette Nunez—grow, dry, and package oranges, lemons, and limes from California’s Central Valley, aiming to enhance drinks with what they call “nature’s edible works of art.”
“It’s a simple citrus slice that elevates any drink, making moments special,” noted Andrea.
Working Together as Family
Working side by side in their Sacramento warehouse, the sisters cherish the blend of business and family time. “We make memories while we work,” Andrea shared.
Their motivation extends beyond sales; it’s about honoring their family’s legacy. Adreana reflected, “My grandfather worked the fields in California when he arrived in the U.S. Years later, my dad owned a produce business. It’s a full-circle moment for us.”
Embracing Their Roles
The team has also welcomed their sister-in-law, Jeanette, who appreciates the inspiring stories of their grandfather. The sisters have distinct roles: Adreana heads operations, Jeanette handles the visuals, and Andrea oversees the business plan and finances.
With six employees who feel like family, they are committed to building a legacy for future generations. “We’re celebrating sisterhood and sweet success as Latinas and mothers,” Andrea expressed.
