Reach Your Objectives with the “Move in Silence” Concept

The trend of keeping goals private, as highlighted by TikTok’s “Move in Silence,” suggests that sharing plans can lead to a false sense of completion. Studies from NYU reveal that those who keep their goals to themselves work more diligently compared to those who announce them, even if the latter feel more accomplished.

Psychologist Peter Gollwitzer explains that when people vocalize intentions, they may satisfy their brain’s need for recognition, reducing actual goal achievement. Additionally, sharing ideas at the beginner stage can expose one to criticism, dampening enthusiasm.

While secrecy can be beneficial, it’s important not to isolate entirely. Sharing goals with a trusted friend for support can be a productive approach. Ultimately, the focus should be on results rather than premature declarations.
