Blue Buffalo Supports Shelters with Food Donations
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif., Oct. 5, 2026 — As the holiday season approaches, Blue Buffalo Home 4 the Holidays® is launching its 27th year with an impactful initiative: donating over 86,000 pounds of pet food to shelters in San Diego and New York City. This marks a continuation of their commitment, urging families to adopt shelter pets rather than buying from stores or breeders.
Since its inception by the Helen Woodward Animal Center in 1999, the Home 4 the Holidays campaign has united over 4,000 animal rescue organizations, leading to over 22 million successful pet adoptions. Blue Buffalo, a partner since 2013, has contributed significantly to this cause by providing high-quality food to keep shelter pets fed.
Shelters across the country are currently facing challenges such as overcrowding and rising costs. Blue Buffalo’s contributions, totaling more than 800,000 pounds of food over the past nine years, aim to alleviate some of this pressure, ensuring that pets in need have sufficient meals while awaiting their forever homes.
Gabriel Vinas, Business Unit Director at Blue Buffalo, stated, “Every dog and cat should be loved and fed like family.” Echoing this sentiment, Renee Resko from the Helen Woodward Animal Center expressed gratitude for their enduring support, emphasizing the critical nature of these donations during resource-scarce times.
To encourage further adoption efforts, the Helen Woodward Animal Center is offering $25,000 to a rescue organization that designs the best seasonal promotion during this holiday period.
