Suspect Arrested After Attempting to Escape in Vehicle Theft Incident
Border Police officers in the Jerusalem Envelope apprehended a suspect during Shabbat, accused of stealing a vehicle from Mevaseret Zion. The individual attempted to break through the Al-Jib crossing near Givat Ze’ev before fleeing the scene on foot.
The situation escalated when officers at the crossing received a tip about a suspected stolen vehicle approaching. In response, they closed the crossing and raised the security barriers. When the vehicle arrived, the driver tried to breach the checkpoint but was halted by the barriers.
After exiting the vehicle, the suspect attempted to escape on foot. However, he was quickly pursued and captured by the officers following a brief chase. A later investigation confirmed that the vehicle had indeed been stolen from Mevaseret Zion. The suspect, identified as a resident of Kafr Aqab, was taken for further questioning.
