Capcom’s upcoming game Pragmata explores the nuances of AI, yet the company appears to embrace the technology rather than reject it. During the Capcom Open Conference RE: 2026, programmer Satoshi Ishida presented the challenges of developing games like Resident Evil, highlighting the time-consuming nature of even basic tasks. To tackle these challenges, Capcom aims to integrate AI into their development processes to enhance efficiency.
While the studio has previously stated that it will not use AI-generated assets in its games, Ishida’s remarks suggest a potential shift. He outlined a gradual plan to evolve the RE Engine into an “AI-generation game engine,” with aspirations for a future where games are co-created with AI. This indicates an openness to leveraging AI more extensively in the development pipeline, without fully replacing human creativity.
