A suspected drunk driver caused a fatal crash on a Queens parkway early Sunday, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old woman in his back seat. The incident occurred around 4:10 a.m. on the Grand Central Parkway near the Steinway St. overpass in Astoria. The driver lost control of his gray Honda Accord, colliding with a side barrier and a light pole, which caused the vehicle to overturn.
The impact ejected the woman from the car, and despite being rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The driver, aged 34, was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving, with charges pending. Police have not yet released the woman’s identity.
