Cotto Modern Italian in Vinings
After nine successful years at Stockyard Burgers & Bones, chef Scott Kinsey and his wife Alexis Kinsey have launched a new culinary venture, Cotto Modern Italian, in the same space. Opening its doors in late September, Cotto offers dinner nightly and weekend brunch.
The Kinsey family operates several popular restaurants around metro Atlanta, including Taqueria Tsunami, Stockyard Burgers & Bones, Silla del Toro, and Forno Vero. Previously, they introduced Cotto in Gainesville, Georgia, three years ago. Alexis noted that the Vinings area has a similar demographic that would appreciate the Italian dining experience.
Culinary Highlights
Chef Scott Kinsey, a former corporate chef for Macaroni Grill, oversees the culinary direction, crafting a menu that includes antipasti, pasta, mains, and 10-inch wood-fired pizzas, with an emphasis on shareable dishes. Patrons can enjoy early favorites such as gnocchi, pollo saltimbocca, and cacio e pepe.
The beverage program features an array of Italian-inspired drinks alongside classic cocktails. A standout seasonal option is the Fly Me to the Moon, made with vodka, lemon, apricot, Italicus, and amaro. The wine list boasts 85 selections from Italy.
Restaurant Ambiance
The revamped dining space maintains a warm and inviting feel, complete with relocated bars, removed half walls, and Italian design elements like arches and stucco wall coverings. The color palette features neutral tones and olive-green accents, creating a nod to Italy’s olive heritage. Cotto can accommodate 75 guests indoors and offers seating for an additional 40 on the open-air patio, welcoming both reservations and walk-ins.
