Wheatland Residents Respond to Robin Energy’s Official Application Submission

Wheatland Residents React to Robin Energy Storage Project Application

WHEATLAND, Wis. — Robin Energy Storage has submitted its application to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin for a proposed 200-megawatt battery energy storage project in Wheatland, which has stirred up significant community concern.

Project Overview

The project, located near Highway 50 and the Balsam Substation, is designed to include 200 battery containers, with potential space for 44 additional containers in the future.

Community Concerns

Local residents have expressed their disappointment and apprehension regarding the project. Kathy Denko, a Wheatland resident, stated, “We knew it was coming, but it’s the biggest disappointment,” emphasizing that the current placement of the project is unsuitable. Despite Robin Energy’s attempts to adjust the site layout further from nearby residences in response to community feedback, many concerns remain unresolved, according to Denko.

Kyle Madsen, a representative of the Town of Wheatland, commented on the town’s ongoing opposition to the project, noting their dissatisfaction with the progress of the application.

Next Steps

While the application has been filed, it is not yet approved. The Public Service Commission will review it for completeness before further action is taken. If approved, construction could begin around 2028, with operations expected to start in 2029.
