Opportunities for Public Feedback on the Dominion-NextEra Energy Agreement

The State Corporation Commission (SCC) is reviewing a significant $67 billion merger proposal between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy, which aims to create the world’s largest electric utility. The SCC has up to six months to make a decision on the proposal, which could be approved, denied, or left without action, leading to automatic approval.

An evidentiary hearing is set for November 17, and residents of Virginia have the opportunity to express their opinions on the merger until November 9 by submitting comments on the SCC website. Additionally, there will be two in-person public hearings—one in Newport News on October 7 and another in Fairfax County on October 9—where community members can participate. Phone hearings for public witnesses will take place on November 5, 9, and 10, and registration for participation is available online.
