Community Concerns Over Downtown Film Production in Livingston, MT
LIVINGSTON, MT — Residents and local businesses are raising concerns after a film crew recently took over downtown Livingston for a project titled Pawn Shop. While the production is expected to bring economic benefits, many locals feel it disrupts daily life.
Brooklyn Wilde, manager of the Gem coffee shop, expressed frustration over a lack of communication from the film crew. “Businesses like the Gem and the Food Resource Center were not made aware of the filming. Our permit encourages outreach to businesses, but no one seems to have heard from them,” she said.
Questions have also arisen regarding whether the film crew acquired all necessary permits for their activities. Wilde noted her surprise at the fee paid to shut down the area.
The crew declined comment when approached by NBC Montana. Meanwhile, protesters near the filming site voiced their concerns about the film’s portrayal of the community. “While they can spend their money how they wish, we also have the right to protest and express our views,” stated protester Keegan Nashan.
Filming is set to continue in downtown Livingston until October 10. In response to local feedback, the Livingston City Commission has scheduled a special meeting for Saturday at 9 a.m. to discuss potential changes to film permit regulations, including advance notice requirements for residents and businesses.
