The Western New Mexico University School of Business has achieved record enrollment this semester, reaching 348 declared majors. This milestone coincides with new national recognitions highlighting the quality of its business programs. Research.com recently ranked the WNMU Bachelor of Business Administration among New Mexico’s top 10 programs, while its online Master of Business Administration earned a top five ranking in the state.
This year’s enrollment reflects a 9% increase from fall 2025 and a 4% increase over the last two years, with significant growth across various degree tracks: a 47% increase in Associate of Science in Business Administration students, a 25% rise in M.B.A. candidates, and a 23% boost in marketing majors within the B.B.A.
Dr. Miguel Vicens, associate dean of the School of Business, emphasized that these numbers showcase the dedication of faculty and staff in supporting students. He articulated that the increasing number of students and national rankings affirm the value and quality of education offered both on-campus and online.
The enrollment surge is attributed to a rising regional demand for accessible, high-quality business credentials, combining rigorous instruction with flexible options for both traditional and working students. A breakdown of the 2026 declared majors reveals 192 B.B.A. students, 64 Bachelor of Applied Science majors, 64 online M.B.A. candidates, and 28 associate degree students, with management remaining the flagship program.
Vicens expressed the school’s commitment to providing students with opportunities for lucrative careers in high-paying industries. He highlighted the importance of understanding the breadth of career options that a business education offers, as well as the goal of expanding access to higher education and facilitating upward mobility for young professionals throughout New Mexico and beyond.
