The Proctor family, known for Tallahassee’s oldest family-owned auto dealership, has expanded into Thomasville by acquiring the area’s oldest dealership, Thomasville Ford, which has been rebranded as Proctor Ford. The Proctor dealership was established in 1910, while the Thomasville Ford dealership dates back to 1917, making it the oldest in Thomasville.
After stepping away from selling Cadillacs and other domestic brands in 2008, the Proctors focused on brands like Honda, Acura, and Subaru. The decision to return to a domestic brand, specifically Ford, was motivated by the need to fill gaps in their offerings, particularly with popular models like the Ford F-150, which is well-loved in South Georgia and North Florida. Martin Proctor emphasized the importance of service in building customer relationships, which they hope to achieve alongside sales.
Sarah Demont, co-owner Martin Proctor’s daughter, expressed excitement about the opportunity to attract customers from North Florida to Thomasville, highlighting a sense of community and support that the dealership hopes to foster. The expansion is seen as a positive development for both the Proctor and Thomasville dealerships.
