New Airo Trains Launch on Amtrak Cascades | Travel + Outdoors

Amtrak has launched its Airo trains on the Amtrak Cascades route, marking their first passenger-service debut in the U.S. Two new trainsets began operating on September 30, providing four daily trips between Vancouver, B.C., Seattle, Portland, and Eugene. More trainsets are expected to join the route by early 2027.

The Airo trains, designed by Siemens Mobility, boast over 300 seats, panoramic windows, complimentary Wi-Fi, individual power outlets, and accessible features. They also include six restrooms and an updated café offering regionally inspired food and beverages.

WSDOT Secretary Julie Meredith emphasized the significant impact of these trains on rail travel in the Pacific Northwest, highlighting improvements in reliability and comfort along one of the country’s most scenic rail corridors.
