Mercedes-Benz and ProLogium have signed a joint testing agreement providing Mercedes with priority access to ProLogium’s latest Gen4 battery cells. This collaboration, based on nearly ten years of partnership, aims to advance next-generation battery technologies for vehicles.
Under this agreement, ProLogium’s Gen4 battery technology will undergo extensive testing at Mercedes-Benz facilities and external institutes. The resulting data will help assess its integration into upcoming vehicles.
The Gen4 platform emphasizes safety, performance, energy density, scalable manufacturing, and cost-effectiveness, featuring a non-flammable inorganic electrolyte and ceramic separator technology. It supports fast charging and operates effectively at low temperatures.
Vincent Yang, CEO of ProLogium, highlighted that this partnership has evolved from early cell development to testing the latest technology for future applications. With Mercedes-Benz’s support, ProLogium is advancing towards large-scale manufacturing in Europe.
Jörg Burzer from Mercedes-Benz noted the collaboration showcases how their technological leadership aims to revolutionize electric mobility. The partnership has expanded beyond product validation and has involved the validation of various battery formats, including lithium-ceramic designs.
ProLogium’s Taoke Gigafactory in Taiwan is already supporting GWh-scale production, while the upcoming Dunkirk Gigafactory aims to enhance European manufacturing capabilities for electric vehicle batteries.
