Kaye and Ben Moomaw are closing Irvington Springs Farm in Lynchburg after over 30 years in business. They began selling flowers at the Lynchburg Community Market in 1994, eventually expanding into a family-run farm where all but one of their six children participated. The couple credits their loyal customers for sustaining the farm for over three decades, acknowledging the challenges posed by this year’s drought. Although they are ending their commercial operations, the Moomaws plan to continue farming on a smaller scale, growing food and native fruit trees for their family, marking a transition rather than a complete departure from farming.
