Disney currently has no intentions to acquire Epic Games.

In the spring, rumors emerged that Disney’s leadership was considering an acquisition of Epic Games if the opportunity arose. However, six months later, Disney’s President and Creative Director, Dana Walden, partially refuted these claims. During a Bloomberg interview, Walden stated that they are not currently in acquisition discussions but reaffirmed Disney’s satisfaction with their existing partnership with Epic Games and the plans for several joint projects in the next two years.

In 2024, Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games, acquiring a stake of about 7-9%. The collaboration between the two companies has been evident in Fortnite, where Disney-owned franchises like “Star Wars,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and “Toy Story” have been integrated into the game.
