Citizen Energy Ventures has recently commenced production from eight wells in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin and is preparing to advance its drilling program for 2026, which aims to develop up to 12 additional wells in the Cherokee Formation.
As of the end of August 2026, all eight wells associated with the company’s 2025 drilling fund were successfully producing, having utilized over $80 million in investments from retail, institutional, and management equity. Notably, these wells were completed within their authorized budgets.
The ongoing 2026 drilling fund initiated this year as a $20 million private placement, with a potential increase to $30 million, is set to work alongside past investors and institutional partners in the drilling and completion of new wells in the Cherokee Formation.
James Woods, the founder and president of Citizen Energy Ventures, emphasized the importance of operational execution, highlighting the firm’s decade-long experience in the Anadarko Basin with over 300 horizontal wells drilled. The company aims to build upon its established strategy to tap into the long-life oil and natural gas reserves in the region.
Prior to launching the 2026 fund, Citizen Energy secured over $100 million from institutional and previous investors to support their drilling schedules, diversify well participation, and enhance operational efficiencies. The Anadarko Basin spans western Oklahoma and parts of neighboring states, making it a significant focus for the company’s resource development efforts.
