Xcel Energy Reestablishes Electricity for 1,300 Customers Following Storm in Texas Panhandle

Severe Weather in Amarillo Causes Outages

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Tuesday night’s severe weather resulted in power outages throughout the region, with high winds damaging trees, power lines, and utility poles.

Xcel Energy crews have been actively inspecting substations and addressing reported outages following the storm in the Texas Panhandle. Brad Baldridge, interim president of Southwestern Public Service, an Xcel Energy subsidiary, reported that approximately 1,300 customers lost power, but service was restored after safety checks were conducted.

“The largest damage was from a tree in the Wolflin area,” Baldridge stated. “Workers quickly removed it from our lines and restored power within about an hour to an hour and a half.”

Xcel Energy advises customers to report outages through its mobile app and to avoid calling 911 for information on power restoration.
