Old Dominion University to Host DaBaby Concert for Student-Athlete Support
NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion University (ODU) Athletics has partnered with Elk Sports & Entertainment and JanDar Productions to bring multi-platinum recording artist DaBaby to Chartway Arena on October 28, 2026. This exciting concert will benefit Old Dominion Athletics, aiming to enhance funding for revenue sharing with student-athletes.
This initiative aligns with a growing national trend of musical artists performing on college campuses, with a portion of proceeds supporting athletics departments. The collaboration seeks to create high-profile entertainment experiences for the Norfolk and Hampton Roads community, while also providing crucial support for ODU’s student-athletes.
Dr. Wood Selig, ODU’s Director of Athletics, noted the importance of incorporating student feedback: “We worked hand-in-hand with our Student Engagement office to determine what would make Homecoming truly special for ODU students this year. Bringing DaBaby to Chartway Arena fulfills that desire and generates financial support for our student-athletes.”
Dan Libro, Principal at Elk Sports & Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership: “ODU is a forward-thinking athletics department, and this fits into their broader strategy to maximize revenue opportunities.”
JanDar Productions will oversee the show’s production, with CEO Darwin Rencher highlighting the potential for a strong collaborative relationship. “We look forward to producing a world-class event for the university and the broader community.”
DaBaby, known for multiple Billboard hits and five studio albums—including his latest, Be More Grateful—is expected to generate significant excitement on campus. Clayton Lott, ODU’s Associate Director for Student Engagement and Traditions, mentioned the anticipation among students and the exclusive offering for them at the concert.
