NASA and SpaceX Target Crew-13 Launch
Location: Kennedy Space Center, Florida
NASA and SpaceX are set to launch the Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, using a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Mission Details
- Rocket: SpaceX Falcon 9
- Spacecraft: Dragon
- Crew:
- Jessica Watkins (Commander)
- Luke Delaney (Pilot, a Volusia County native)
- Josh Kutryk (Canada Space Agency)
- Sergey Teteryatnikov (Russian Cosmonaut)
Objectives
While aboard the ISS, the Crew-13 members will conduct scientific experiments aimed at preparing for future lunar and Martian missions. They are expected to stay on the ISS for approximately six months.
Challenges Ahead
The launch has faced delays due to an oxidizer leak discovered in the spacecraft’s propulsion system, which has since been repaired. Current primary concern is weather conditions on launch day.
Should Thursday’s launch be postponed, the next opportunity will be on Friday morning.
