The Little Traverse Bay Humane Society in Emmet County, Michigan, has launched a community resource center to better serve pet owners in need. Located on the shelter’s campus, this shed is stocked with free pet supplies like food, bedding, and toys. The initiative responds to requests for after-hours support, allowing pet parents to access resources even when the shelter is closed.
Visitors can take what they need while ensuring there’s enough for others. To maintain accountability, they are asked to fill out an anonymous form detailing their needs. Donations of supplies should be taken to the main shelter. The initiative is supported by the Hickey-Kiersey Family Philanthropic Foundation in memory of Clementine Adderley.
