Facility Gears Up for Crew-13 Arrival While Advancing Space Studies

Expedition 75 Prepares for Crew-13 Arrival

The International Space Station (ISS) is gearing up for the arrival of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission, set to launch on October 1. In the meantime, the astronauts are engaged in space research and station maintenance.

Crew Members:

  • Commander Jessica Watkins
  • Pilot Luke Delaney
  • Mission Specialists:
    • Joshua Kutryk (Canadian Space Agency)
    • Sergey Teteryatnikov (Roscosmos)

The mission will launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon atop a Falcon 9 rocket at 11:10 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral. Live coverage begins at 9:20 a.m. on NASA+.

Docking and Arrival:
The Dragon is expected to dock at the Harmony module around 7 p.m., with hatch opening scheduled an hour and a half later for welcoming and safety orientation.

Station Prep Activities

On September 29, NASA astronauts onboard worked to prepare for Crew-13’s arrival:

  • Jessica Meir reorganized cargo at the docking adapter to make space for Crew-13.
  • Anil Menon and Jack Hathaway staged essential supplies in Harmony.

Ongoing Research

Sophie Adenot (ESA) focused on scientific tasks, including:

  • Testing the E4D exercise device for astronaut fitness during long missions.
  • Practicing simulated lunar landing techniques to study cognitive effects in microgravity.

Andrey Fedyaev (Roscosmos) continued testing a specialized suit aiming to counteract fluid shifts experienced in space, potentially helping astronauts readjust to Earth’s gravity.

Additionally, Anna Kikina and Pyotr Dubrov measured their blood pressure conditions in microgravity and conducted maintenance checks.
